Show Richard M. Rowley Named Judge In English Contest Richard M. Rowley, Chairman of the Division of English of the College of Southern Utah has oeen appointed a regional judge for the National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards Program for 1966. Judging Judg-ing committees, composed of English teachers from both college col-lege and high schools, will evaluate eval-uate writing skills and literary awareness of nearly 8,500 high school participants. The Achievement Awards Program Pro-gram attempts to grant recognition recogni-tion to outstanding high school seniors for evcellence in English. Finalists are announced in late November and are recommnded for scholarship aid to all United States colleges and universities. This competition is part of the comprehensive program of the National Council of Teachers of English to improve instruction in English language and literature litera-ture at all levels through out the nationa's school. The NCTE is a professional, nonprofit organization of English teachers whose membership and subscribers r.ow includes more than 108,500 teachers from primary pri-mary grades to graduate school. |
