Show I Steps Taken to Establish 7-County Audio-Visual Aids Center, Service Numerous questionaires will be sent to local people as well as educators to aid in directing the planning of the proposed center. The public help is very much needed to make this a truly worthwhile and educationally sound service. First steps have been taken in the proposal to establish and maintain a Seven County Audio-Visual Audio-Visual Aids Center and Service. A Board of Directors has been established consisting of the school superintendents of the seven sev-en counties: Joe Reidhead, Iron; Talmage Taylor, Millard; C. Whitaker, Piute; Syallow, Kane; LaVoy Esplin, Washington; Barney, Bar-ney, Garfield, and LeFevre, Beaver. Bea-ver. Dr. Reidhead, Chairman of the Board, announces the appointment appoint-ment of Jerald S. Hawley, Cedar City, as Director of the Center, and Mrs. Louise Bennett, Holden, as Consultive Assistant. Mr. Hawley holds B. S. and M. S. degrees in Industrial and Tcchical Education from Utah State University and has studied extensively in Secondary Administration. Admin-istration. His teaching background back-ground includes Electricity, Electronics, Elec-tronics, and Radio and Television. He is married to the former Marilyn Mari-lyn Stapley of Cedar City, and they have a 15 month old son. While attending USU, Mr. Hawley Haw-ley was President of Delta Phi Kappa, a large honorary fraternity; fratern-ity; a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, an honorary senior fraternity, fraterni-ty, and is listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. Universi-ties. He has also fulfilled an LDS mission to Norway and is a member mem-ber of the Cedar City Tenth Ward Bishopric. Mrs. Bennett holds a B. S. degreee from the University of Utah and a M. Ed. degree from Brigham Young University in Supervision and Adiministration in the Elementary School. She has specialized in Instruction and Curriculum, and is presently the Curriculum Representative for Region VI on Utah Network of Instructional Tevevlsion. She was President of UEA in 1963-64, 1963-64, and is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Honorary Society for Women Educators. She is also al-so listed in Who's Who in Women Educators. At present she is an elementary principal in Millard County. She is married to Ned A. Bennett and they have three The general objective is to establish es-tablish an effective means to increase in-crease culutural and educational opportuniteis of the students of the seven counties which are to be served. To achieve this the center will make use of many different media me-dia som e of which are 16 mm film and closed circuit TV. The present plan is to have a film depository located in a central area. Educational TV programs would be taken, via video tape, from KUED Channel 7 in Salt Lake City and dedistributed to the schools at a more convenient scheduling time. |
