Show Beautification Group Would Enlarge Memorial Rose Plot The Parowan City Beautification Beautifica-tion committe has been stressing the community rose garden, the" flowers bordering the south drive to the Old Rock Church and the flowers around the War Memorial Memor-ial on the city park this spring. These projects, being headed by Mrs. Florence Mitchell, have taken much attention this spring because of the drouth and cold weather, but are now beginning to show the results of the labors of Mrs. Mitchell and her helpers. Frost killed the leaves and early blooms on the rose bushes, but they are now bursting fouth with new foliage and blooms. The plot has been enlarged and quite a number of new plantings have been donated this spring. But the ladies state that there is still room for an additional 40 or 50 bushes, but that they must be procured and planted within the next two weeks. The rose garden was started with donations of bushes by various var-ious families and individuals in the community with the plants dedicated to the memory of departed de-parted members for the most part. The committee urges citizens citi-zens to continue this project and bring the rose garden up to its full capacity this week and next to round out the program. They also extend an invitation to city residents to visit the project area to see what has been done and see the beautiful flowers now started and blooming there. |
