Show Don Kent Seegmiller Graduates from University of Utah DON KENT SEEGMILLER Don Kent Seegmiller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Seegmiller of Cedar City received his bachelor's ba-chelor's of arts degree from the University of Utah at Commencement Commence-ment exercises held this past week. The Cedar City student received receiv-ed an honors degree in political science. With a grade point average av-erage of 3.9 (4.0 is equal to an A), Seegmiller graduated "magna "mag-na cum laude" and in the top one per cent of his graduating class. During his undergraduate work he enrolled in the honors program pro-gram and completed all the requirements re-quirements which included special spe-cial honors classes, seminars, advanced ad-vanced reading courses and a senior honors thesis. The topic of his thesis was "The Role of Latin America in World War II: a Reflection of Inter-American Solidarity." It will be catalogued in the U of U Library. In addition to completing requirements re-quirements for his degree he fulfilled ful-filled the requisites for a certificate certifi-cate in International Relations which he also received at graduation. grad-uation. In connection with his high scholastic achievement he was one of 30 seniors at the U to be elected to Fhi Betta Kappa, national na-tional honor society. Previously he was elected for membership in PhiKap pa Phi, national honor society, and Pi Sigma Alph, national na-tional political science honorary. In extra curricular activities ho has been afficiated with the Collegiate Col-legiate Council for the United Nations, delegate to the Oklahoma Okla-homa Model UN, the student tutor society, an officer in Pi Sigma Alpha, and a member of the Young Republicans Club. Seegmiller received rellowship offers to the University of Florida, Flori-da, Georgetown University, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy Di-plomacy at Tufts University and the University of Missouri. He accepted a three year fellowship fellow-ship to the University of Missouri Miss-ouri for approximately $9,000, where he will begin study next year for graduate degrees in political po-litical science. |
