Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING Mr. and Mrs. Robert Goodwin and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stapley were among the group who recently re-cently enjoyed the friendship cruise down the Green River and back up the Colorado to Moab, Utah. The trip which commenced at Greenriver, took two days and was approximately a 200 mile round trip. Eleven members of the MBW Club were in attendance at a meeting held Friday at the home of Iva Nelson. Mrs. Nelson served serv-ed a luncheon to the guests and a lesson taken from the condensed condens-ed version of "Beyond Ourselves" by Katherine Marshall who is also the author of "A Man Called Peter" was presented by Mrs. Darwin Nelson. Mrs. James Watson brought her mother-in-law, Mrs. Lona Watson, back to Cedar City after she had visited with them in Downey, Calif. Also accompanying accompany-ing Mrs. James Watson here in addition to her children, was her sister, the former Ruby Klein - man of Toquerville. Both Mrs. James Watson and her sister were in attendance at the wedding wed-ding and reception of their brother bro-ther Melvin in Toquerville Saturday Sat-urday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lee have as their guests Mrs. Lee's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Grimm of San Jose, Calif. The Grimms arrived last week end i and will extend their vacation I here until sometime this coming ' week end. Mr. and Mrs. Lou Nelson have enjoyed the recent company of their grandson, Roger Lewis Bryant Bry-ant of Boise, Idaho, who spent two weeks here. This is the first time in four years that Roger a son of LuDonna and Emery Bryant, has visited in Cedar City with his grandparents. Prior to his visit here, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Nel-son enjoyed a brief vacation with the Bryant family in Boise. Among summer vacationers in southern Utah have been Mr. and Mrs. Collin Smith and children chil-dren of Salt Lake City. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith in Cedar City and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Joseph of Beaver. Spending almost two weeks in Cedar City with Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Corry and Dr. and Mrs. J. S. Prestwich have been Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Prestwich and children of Arizona. Back in the United States and here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hazel are Sgt. and Mrs. Eugene Eu-gene Wallenfang and six children. chil-dren. Sgt. Wallenfang and his wife, the former Juanita Hazel, left three and one-half years ago for an assignment at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa. When they left the United States, the couple had four daughters. They returned with two more children, twins. The twins, whom the grandparents have never seen are 2 years old, another girl and the first boy for the couple. After Sgt. Wallenfang and family have visited in Cedar City until Friday, they will leave for Edwards Air Force Base in California. Cali-fornia. LADIES OF ELKS The Ladies of Elks will hold their annual canyon breakfast Thursday, June 15, at 7 p. m. The event is being planned by Ladies of Elks officers under the direction of Dorothy Urie, president. presi-dent. Canasta club members met last week at the home of Mrs. Ber-nus Ber-nus Reber for their usual semimonthly semi-monthly social. Joining club ladies lad-ies for the evening were guests, Mrs. Gne Smith and Mrs. Randy Rosenberg. Miss Trudy Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Clark, left last week for.Kanab, where she will be employed by Utah Parks. While in Kanab, she is making her home with an uncle, Paul Prisbrey. |
