Show Dairy Freez suffers first loss of season at hands of Bank Mets PAROWAN - June 3. The Bank of Iron County Mets defeated the Dairy Freez Cubs Monday night in the first extra inning ballgame of the season. After six full innings the score was tied 8-8. In the seventh inning both teams went scoreless. In the top of the eighth the Dairy Freez scored twice going ahead 10-8. In the bottom of the eighth the Bank scored three runs making the final score 11-10. Brian Johnson hit a double for the Bank, David Hulet hit a single, and Russell Benson hit his first single of the season hitting in the winning run. David came in in the bottom of the third inning with two outs, and struck out the first batter to retire the side. Mitchell pitched a beautiful ballgame holding the Mets hitless and allowing one run, and striking out 13 out of 21 batters. , Brian Johnson led the hitting for the Bank hitting 3-4. Two doubles and a single. David Hulet hit a double and Roger Bentley contributed a double also. Brian Johnson was the losing pitcher. PAROWAN - June 8. Saturday evening the Dairy Freez Cubs defeated the Parowan Lions Club Reds. For two innings both teams the Dairy Freez hitting 3-4. A homerun, a double, and a single. Pat Benson hit 2-4, a homerun and a single. Casey Fiack went 2-5, 2-5, two singles. Kevin Smith hit a triple, and David Evans and Tim Beaumont both hit their first singles of the season. Shane Bess contributed a single. Tommy Packwood was the losing pitcher. PAROWAN - June 5. The Parowan Lions Club Reds broke their losing streak Wednesday night when they defeated the Bank of Iron County Mets in another extra inning ballgame. At the end of six innings the score remained scoreless. In the top of the third the Reds pulled ahead scoring three runs. In the bottom of the third, Shane Bess hit a grand slam homerun to put the Dairy Freez ahead 7-3 and on their way to another victory. The cubs scored four runs in the fourth and four runds in the fifth inning. The rReds scored two runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth with the final score 15-7. Leading hitter for the Cubs was Shane Bess hitting 3-4, a homerun and two singles. Pat Benson hit a homerun and a single. John Clinton hit two singles, and David Warren hit a single for his first was tied 12-12. Both teams scored once in the seventh making it 13-13.' 13-13.' Neither team was able to score in the eighth. In the ninth inning the Reds jumped out to a 20-13 lead. The bank fought back in the bottom of the ninth, but were only able to score three runs. Final score 20-16. David Mitchell led the hitting for the Reds hitting 3-6. Two homeruns and a single. Doug Hermansen hit 4-7, four singles. Robert Hargrove went 3-5, three singles. Danny Robinson hit a double and two singles. Scott Freeborn and David Morgan hit their first singles of the season.
