Show SUSC Student Center Forum to feature Mrs Alene Chamberlain f 1 "Youth and Community Service Ser-vice - A Hidden Resource," will be the topic of the discussion to be conducted by Mrs. Alene G. Chamberlain at the weekly SUSC Student Center Forum on Tuesday, June 18 at 12 noon in the Student Center Lounge. The program is open to the public free of charge. Mrs. Chamberlain was the organizer of the youth committee which last year beautified Cedar City's Main Street through the installation of flower filled planters throughout the business district. Three members of the youth committee who are serving as directors of special projects will assist Mrs. Chamberlain in her forum presentation. They are Cindy Chamberlain, Carolyn Jorgensen, and Antinette Hunter. Mrs. Chamberlain also organized the Community Pride Conference held in Cedar City last February which brought together 90 youths from throughout Iron County to receive help in identifying needs in their respective communities and ways in which these needs could be met. She is currently employed part time by the Utah State University Extension Service as a staff assistant in charge of community service projects for youth. She worked with approximately 450 youth during the past year in community service projects. She has also assisted in planning the State 4-H Community Pride Youth Conference held at Snow College June 10 through 12. Mrs. Chamberlain attended Cedar City schools and Branch Agricultural College, now SUSC. ALENE G. CHAMBERLAIN She served as a 4-H project leader for 19 years, as a 4-H community supervisor, and has been a member of the 4-H Advisory Ad-visory Council in Iron Countv for 12 years. She was a recipient of the Utah Farm Bureau 4-H Leadership Award in 1971 and the Community Pride Leaders Award in 1973. She is a member of the Cedar City Youth Council and has served a term as president of the Southern Utah Piano Teachers Association. Mrs. Chamberlain is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has filled many positions in the church auxiliaries. She is the wife of Royce Chamberlain, Cedar City insurance in-surance executive, and the mother of three sons and three daughters. |
