Show r . .. - M. flj I A Letter frem Pead. lona and Barbara... By Pearl Baker California Visitors. . . Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Ca-they) (Ca-they) Ellena spend three or four days in this area taking pictures. Tttey flew witji Jim Hurst . cine day, which they enjoyed Very much, and spent a day on the San Rafael Swell from Swasey's cabin ca-bin to Hondoo Arch. On Thursday Joe Baker and Floyd Stephens took them into Horseshoe Canyon to take pix of the Indian Paintings. Going along on that trip were Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Comer Co-mer and Lee Howland. Besides being a commercial com-mercial photographer, Ray also gives talks and slide shows to clubs and schools surrounding their . home in Cambria, California. This is the first time they have really covered this part of the country, and they were much impressed with it. On the way back from Horseshoe, the boys came by Dry Lakes, which they often do when out in that section, and the setting sun on Del-lenbaugh Del-lenbaugh Butte was something else, they said. Has Eye Surgery. . . Mrs. May Wilson was operated on for cataract on her left eye on Thursday Thurs-day at Grand Junction. She returned home on Saturday and is getting along fine. Flu Cure. . . I really didn't die with the flu, but I mighthave. One evening when I felt the most miserable, here came Al Wadzeck with a pouch of foil. He handed it to me and ordered or-dered me to "Eat!" I opened - the pouch, and shouted (as well as I could for my damaged voice box) "Calf fries!" He said, sure, and he just knew it was what I needed to cure me. Greater love hath no cowman than he who will share his annual treat of mountain oysters with an ailing friend! As I say, it did the trick -- I could but recover after that. River Runners. . . Jack Tillinghast, Canon, Ca-non, Texas, professor in charge of athletics of Western Texas University, Univer-sity, and a party of eight are running Cataract this week. Jack gets lonesome for the canyon country, and as soon as winter breaks, he comes back to get dusted in red. He was a boatman for Ron Smith of Canyon-lands Canyon-lands Expeditions for two years, and now has his own boating expeditions expedi-tions on the Snake River in Idaho. Band Parents. . . There will be a meeting meet-ing of band mother and fathers on Friday, Mar. 28, at 7:00 p.m. This meeting will be concerned concern-ed with submitting a bid to the CCRMA for providing pro-viding enough drivers for vehicle movement to Moab from Green River during the Friendship Cruise. If this bid is accepted, ac-cepted, it will provide almost enough money to finish paying for the new band uniforms. This venture will need the cooperation of all the band parents. |
