Show Letters to the Editor To the people of Moab . . Words cannot express my thanks for the generous gener-ous and warm response I received as I stood in the lobby of City Market handing out to all who would take it, a "White Cane". This was my first experience ex-perience in such an endeavor en-deavor to help any one in public and the kindness which was shown me as I solicited your support, not only surprised me but also gave me a feeling of gratification. To you, who dressed in overalls and wearing work shoes, I sincerely give thanks for your contribution con-tribution of $5.00. Also to two young boys who passed me by but later donated a dollar - even thous I question you at the time as to whether you could afford it. To the school teachers who mentioned the fact that they knew what the Lions Club did for school children chil-dren in buying them glasses. glas-ses. To all of you I give a heart full of thanks in the name of the Lions whom I represented last Tuesday Tues-day and also for the person per-son or persons who will benefit from your gift. During the rest of the week, other Lions will be stationed in stores soliciting so-liciting your aid for people peo-ple of all ages and races who may be unlucky enough to need eye care of any type. I trust they will receive the same warm support and feel the same glow I felt as I foled my table for the day. Again I say thanks to the people of Moab --it makes me proud to be one of you. Sincerely, W. D. McArthur Dear Editor: This week we of the C.A.P. staff will be delivering de-livering packages of documentation doc-umentation to the City Councilmen, the Mayor, the County Commissioners, Commission-ers, and the County Clerk. This documentation was requested by the City Council to provide evidence evi-dence that C.A.P. is not duplicating the services of other public service agencies in Moab. The packages will includes in-cludes a copy of our work program for fiscal years 1974-1975 and 1975-1976 and statistics to reflect the work we are doing to fulfill the requirements of our assigned program. The packages will also include publications that we developed and printed; descriptions of activities, activi-ties, projects, and community com-munity issues which we have sponsored or become be-come involved in; letters of support from agencies, organizations, and individuals indi-viduals with whom we work; and general information infor-mation relevant to satisfying satis-fying the City Council's request. The names of individuals indivi-duals with whom we work will not be included in this documentation, in order to preserve their right to privacy and confidentiality. con-fidentiality. The County has offered us the use of their duplicator dupli-cator in preparing these packages, and we have requested financial reimbursement re-imbursement from the City to offset the expense of duplicating this material. mater-ial. To them, our appreciation. appre-ciation. Preparing such documentation docu-mentation is one of the most grueling, tiresome, and sometimes overwhelming over-whelming tasks that public pub-lic employees have to deal with. In many cases it makes the job they are assigned to do impossible. impossi-ble. We at the C.A.P. agency feel that these packages adequately reflect re-flect those aspects of our work that can be documented. docu-mented. However, no words on paper can express ex-press the beauty of true, human communication, which is what we feel our job is really all about. A copy of this documentation docu-mentation will be in our office. Anyone who would like to see this material is welcome to come in and look at it. We are located lo-cated at 74 East Center Street, and open between 9 and 5, Monday through Friday. --C.A.P. Staff Dear Sam, It seems some people these days are more inspired in-spired with Hate, Pride and Reputation than they are from "Love." It is no wonder this generation has lost some of their geniouses of art. When all a person has is Reputation and it is lost and they consider that the end, They didn't have much to start with. Considering the comments com-ments made for Community Com-munity Acticn Program, last week, just exactly what is meant by a show down, and what are the issues, answers, etc. Could this be a similar method used by Socialism. Social-ism. If you don't accept Socialism, we will use force of the Revolutionary Revolution-ary Party (Communism) to make you think our way. The County Commission Commis-sion handled this situation situa-tion right on. This kind of politics are not needed need-ed in Grand County. Any un-elected political politi-cal organization promoting pro-moting the needs of poor people, will only make them more poor, on account ac-count of their poor ways. When a young person learns they are poor, because they do not work then the needs are no longer needed and neither nei-ther is C.A.I'. This business oftend-ing oftend-ing to other peoples personal per-sonal lives, from sex to poverty reminds one of Voltairs statements Quote: The Man who says: Think as I think, or God will condemn you. Will soon say: Think as I Think, or 1 will hill you. Kenneth I,. English Moab, Utah |
