Show fAoab Teens Attend Youth Development Conference In St. Louis, fAissouri Seven students from Moab have been sent to St. Louis, Missouri this week to attend a National Youth Development Conference Con-ference sponsored by the Human Development , Corporation of Metro--politan St. Louis. The purpose of the conference is an exchange ex-change of ideas among youth and youth leaders relevant to the needs and concerns of young people, peo-ple, and their relation- ship to a society from which many may feel uncomfortably separated. separat-ed. The students from Moab will have a chance to meet young people from all over the country coun-try and hear of their projects, problems and possibilities; then return re-turn to share what they have learned, hopefully to inspire us and their fellow students here to implement some new programs for our own youth. The group from Moab was sponsored by the Moab Alliance, a relatively rela-tively informal organization organi-zation of social services personnel, church members, mem-bers, and interested individuals in-dividuals working toward to-ward common goals for the growth of human understanding un-derstanding in Moab. The trip to St. Louis was planned and co-ordinated in cooperation with the local Community Commun-ity Action agency, and financed by contributions contribu-tions solicited from innumerable in-numerable local agencies, agen-cies, clubs, businesses and private individuals. The students representing repre-senting Moab at the Conference Con-ference are: Rick Car-rigan. Car-rigan. Gretchen Roberts, Rob-erts, Raymond Salazar, Robbie Anderson, Shaw-na Shaw-na Halls, Fred Foster, and Debbie Wiseman. They are accompanied by chaperones Dwaine Barker, former Moab grade school teacher; and Peggy Page, of Mo-' ab's Community Action Program. |
