duck season set to begin oct 15 the opening date for duck hunting this fall will be october 15 and the season will not close until january 2 this makes a waterfowl hunting season of 80 continuous days shoot mg ing hours extend from one half be fore sunrise to sunset for the past several years the shooting hour for the first day did not begin until noon other regulations set up by the department of fish and game of cices include the following daily bag limit on ducks is nine birds providing three of the birds are of the widgeon or pintail species the possession limit for two or more days of hunting is 15 birds with the widgeons this means that if you take nine birds the first day with the three bonus species then you can kill only six more ducks the second day out for geese the bag limit is only six birds only two of which may be of the canadian or dark species this is a reduction from last year as then three birds of the dark species were allowed the commission made this reduction following reports that showed these birds made poor pro this year copies of the full regulations cov ering the waterfowl season are avail able by calling or writing the department of fish and game of faces tices at 1596 west north temple salt lake city
