' Another chance for the homeseeker is presented In the opening of the Crow and Shoshone Indian reservations reserva-tions to settlement. Many a Utahn will try to -land a good farm. The Shoshone or Wind River ' reservation reser-vation is In Wyoming, and contains about 6500 homesteads of 160 acres each; while the Crow lands are irt Montana, and will accommodate about the same number. The lands can be taken up by bona fide settlers, wlio will be obliged to pay $4 an acre for some of the lands and $1.50 an acre for others. The first thing for a prospective settler set-tler to do is to get registered. The registration for the Crow tract began Thursday. June 14, and will continue until the evening of June 28. Registration Regis-tration offices' are open at Miles City and Billings, in Montana, and at Sheridan, Sheri-dan, in Wyoming. Shoshone reservation registration will be from July 16 until July SI. Applicants when registered may go on the reservations to look at the land. Shoshone drawing at Lander. Wyo., August 4. Crow drawing at Billings, Mont, July 2. -Will Be Notified. After the drawing each applicant will be notified of his number, and the day when he must make his entry. Those having from 1 to 125 In the Crow drawing will appear July 16 at Billings to apply for entry. The applicant ap-plicant will be required to present proofs. One dollar an acre will be re-Quired re-Quired at the time, of entry, and the other $S in four equal annual Installments, Install-ments, the first installment to be paid at the end of the second year. Shoshone drawers will appear at the Land office at Lander, Wyo., August 15. and go through the same process. The cost of the Shoshone lands Is $1.60 an acre, of which 50 cents is paid at the time of entry and 25 cents an acre each year afterward. Actual settlement on these lands is necessary. |
