The Federal grand jury called to look into the evidence on which charges of peonage had been preferred against New Madrid county farmer has reported two true bills to Judge Flnkelburg of the . United States District Dis-trict court., Every man arrested ! by United States Marshal Morse y and his deputies depu-ties in the recent raid was named in the indictments. Eaeh indictment contained forty-four counts. Eacn represents the testimony given by a negro said -to have been held in slavery sla-very on the Smith farm. The court issued an order lhat the men named in the Indictment appear within ten ' days and give bond for their appearance at the September term of court for trial. |
