The day of the annual regatta of th Intercollegiate Rowing association, ir which six of the foremost colleges ol the East and West will meet in oper. contest for a test as to aquatic supremacy, suprem-acy, opened dark and showery thh morning, with a promise that intermittent inter-mittent rain might fall throughout tht day. The championship race for 'Varsity eight-oared crews is not scheduled for decision until 6 'o'clock this evening, so the early weather conditions were not discouraging' to the regatta officials. offi-cials. The water over the four-mile straightaway course was almost a smooth as a mlllpond during the morning, and' the promise of favorable rowing conditions more than offset the gloom cast from frowning clouds. The first race will be rowed at 4 o'clock, at which time the 'Varsity four-oared shells will be sent away on a two-mile Journey. Cornell, Columbia, Colum-bia, Syracuse and the University of Pennsylvania have entered crews -for this race.
