Show July 4 Committee extends thanks to those who helped make celebration a success nished the afternoon entertainment enter-tainment with their annual race meet and amateur rodeo, ro-deo, held at the city race track and rodeo arena, Results of tho part of the celebration I are given in another story. The day was climaxed by a I fireworks display at the race track. We feel the City Volunteer Vol-unteer Fire Department is to be complimented for making the beautiful display possi- ble. Some felt the fireworks would have been more effective effect-ive in dry weather, but even in the rain and from inside our cars, it was very enjoyable. enjoy-able. We are sure the firemen learned a lot with their first experience of this kind and will be even better prepared next year. We are hoping this will become a part of the celebration. cele-bration. A big thanks to these men. We understand they didn't quite meet expenses so if you would like fireworks in years to come, make a nice contribution contribu-tion to the Firemen's club. The young people of the area supported the dance in the evening and felt it was very successful. Our thanks to the Rammette Club for sponsoring it. We hope everyone had a good time and took at least one moment during the day to remember why we were celebrating cele-brating and to "Honor America." Ameri-ca." BEVERLY TAYLOR General Chairman The Nation's Birthday was celebrated in Parowan on Saturday Sat-urday with a full day of activity. acti-vity. A special thanks is certainly cer-tainly due those who helped ma lie the day the success it wa,' I These go to Bill Rollins, who' for many years has been responsible re-sponsible for the day-break' salute. Also to Gary Miller' who conducted the sports this 1 year and even got the "older men" of the community to compete in a 40 yard dash. Winners were Ned Palmer, Sheldon Smith and Ronald Bess. We were relieved when no one suffered a heart attack. at-tack. We feel the American Leg-and. Leg-and. Auxiliary really planned a fine program, one of the best in many years. It was fun to reminisce as State Senator Sen-ator Dixie Leavitt brought to mind some of the fine traditions tra-ditions which are a part of tho Fourth of July. As usual, what floats there were in the parade were beautifully done. We just wish more of the organizations, clubs and individuals would support this part of the day's activities. It seems that everyone every-one wants to see a good parade par-ade but no one wants to build a float. We would like to take our hats,, off to the new music teacher at the High School, Mr. John Talcot and the band. They have really worked long and hard and we certainly arc proud of them. Winners in the senior division divis-ion -of the parade were lst( Thi&d Ward Primary; 2nd, the Secojid Ward Primary, and 3rd, the First Ward Primary.
