Show Large crowd attends Wrangler July 4 race meet and rodeo A very successful race meet and rodeo was the highlight high-light of the afternoon entertainment enter-tainment on July 4 in Parowan. Paro-wan. A large crowd of enthusiasts en-thusiasts was in attendance, and Gary Bentley, racing chairman for the sponsoring Red Hill Wranglers did a very good job of getting the races off on time. Lucky winners win-ners of the $700 in purses are as follows: Race 1 ;!s-mile free for all, for purse and blanket donated do-nated by Brian Head Resort, Rulon Lyman's Bunny Gold Bar; Mary Lay's Ipana Request, Re-quest, and Paul Branhain's Wandering Boy. Race 2 5 furlongs, Rulon Lyman's Sorrel Jane; Paul Branham's Skip Step, and Sam Allen's Winona Pride. Race 3 5 furlongs, Howard How-ard Stubb's Beau Champ; Sam Pritchard's Flying Ember, and Johnson Crane's Tiss Me. Race 1 370 yard, Maidens, Maid-ens, Glade Utley's Shes a Cool Cat; Leo Cahoon's Bold Lass, and JimRhode's Shim Bar. Race 5 370 yards free for all, Scott Utley's Dog Face Gal; Dennis Hardy's Wh? You, and Gene Marchant's My Bay Boy. Race 6 six furlongs, $200 purse and blanket donated by Jolley's Ranch Wear, Craig Stubbs' Cover Sand; Cram? Johnson's Supreme Effort, and Kujon Lyman s Shady Vee. Dick Tullis is rodeo chairman chair-man for the riding club and was in charge of these events ev-ents held between races. Roy Whitlock was in charge of awarding over $1000 in" prize money to the winners in this portion of the show. They were: Team roping, No. 1, Monte Bundy and Darrel Welch; No. 2, Lloyd and Dean Whitney; No. 3, LaVar Bracken and Charles Welch. Calf roping: No. 1 Charles Welch; 2, Billy Blake; 3, LaVar La-Var Bracken. Bulldogging: No. 1, Charles Welch; No. 2, Mark Bunday. Bareback bronc riding: 1, Vern Stewart; 2, Ron Taylor, and 3, split between Brent Sheldon and Jim Jimenez. Ladies' Barrel Racing. No. 1, Bobi Bonner; No. 2, Kathy Foremaster; No. 3, Vyonne , Chamberlain. |
