Show Plans lor srosi cotssitif Fair anMncodI being open to the public Sunday Sun-day afternoon and early evening, eve-ning, the musical program will be presented free to the public Sunday at 8 p.m. One of the highlights 011 Monday, Labor Day, will be the main street parade at 10 a. m. with the Fair theme, "America the Beautiful" also as the parade theme. The Po- I ny Express race with its $1000 added purse, will be run at the Parowan track at 1 p. m. just prior to the gate time for the final day of the race-rodeo race-rodeo show. All of this enter tainment coupled with a carnival, car-nival, concessions, etc. should provide fun galore and make the Iron County Fair truly a "Family-A-Fair." Plans for the 1970 Iron County Fair, to be held Sept. 5, 6, and 7 are progressing rapidly according ac-cording to Mrs. Clair Hulet, publicity chairman. Names of the committee chairmen for the various divisions of the traditional event were announced an-nounced at a recent meeting of the Fair Board by D. A. Stones, chairman, following their approval by the Board of Iron County Commissioners. Martell Easton, Cedar City Chamber of Commerce secretary, secre-tary, was named as co-chairman of the board and will also act as parade chairman for the Labor Day Parade, Mr. Stones said. Mrs. Ralph Hulet Hu-let will assume her former position as secretary-treasurer while D Robinson will represent the commissioners. Others who have been appointed ap-pointed to chairmanships are Mayron Abbott, who will compile com-pile the Fair Booklet; Richard Rich-ard Dotson and Robert A. Miller, Mil-ler, exhibit hall supervisors; Mrs. K Chamberlain, booklet advertising and also dance chairman; Richard Rowley, printed advertising; Ramon Eentley, advertising distribution, distribu-tion, and Don Cartwright, public pub-lic relations. Brycc Adams is In charge of encessions and Ira Schoppmann, Iron County Sheriff and Hyatt Bentley, do-puty, do-puty, will take care of traffic traf-fic and parking arrangements. Chairmen for the varioue entertainment features of the three-day celebration include Norman Eans, Parowan, the Fony Express Relay Race; ! Sam Pritchard and Alan Stones, co-chairmen of the I horse racing program J. J. Miller of the Iron Rangers, , chairman of the amateur rodeo ro-deo to be held on both Saturday Sat-urday and Monday afternoons in connection with the horse races. Homer Adams will be chairman of the ticket sales committee for the equestrian programs which will take place at the Parowan City Race Track and Rodeo Arena. Eugene Robb of the Parowan Lions Club, will be in charge of street decorations. Preceding the Fair will be the Miss Iron County Pageant Pag-eant to be sponsored by the Cedar City Jaycees and which will be held in Cedar City on Friday evening, Sept. 4. There Iron County's eloveliest young ladies will compete for the title of 1970-71 Miss Iron County. Frank Nichols is president pres-ident of the Jaycees and will be in charge of all arrangements arrange-ments for the beauty pageant including the special entertainment enter-tainment for the evening. At the exhibits which constitute con-stitute the Fair proper. Mrs. Thales Brown will be in charge of all Homemaking departments; while Twenty Orton will be chairman of the agricultural departments. Mrs. Willis Robinson is chairman chair-man of the flower exhibits and Mrs. Gilbert Barton, the art department. County Agricultural Agri-cultural agent Wallace Sjob-lom Sjob-lom and Marva Esplin, county coun-ty home demonstrator, will be in charge of all 4-11 club de partments and Reed Thomson, ;the state and federal agency educational displays. Mrs. C. F. Bentley will head the division divi-sion for Senior Citizen exhibits exhi-bits which will include the same departments as the regular reg-ular division. A chairman of the crafts department is yet to be named. Mrs. Stones said. Mrs. John Smith will be exhibit co-ordinator for the Escalante Valley area and oth. ers will bo delegated the same responsibilities for other areas in the county. There will be a regular carnival car-nival in Parowan and it will be in operation on both Saturday Sat-urday and Monday, the board announced The Board will also host the county at a variety musical program on Sunday evening, Sept. 6 in the Parowan High School auditorium, where several sev-eral groups of well known entertainers en-tertainers from Weber State College and the T. H. Bell Junior High School of Weber County will perform An overall rundown on the Fair program as it is set up includes the Miss Iron County Coun-ty Pageant Friday evening Sept. 1; exhibit hall open from I p. m. Saturday to 5 p. m. Monday; race meet and amateur rodeo on both Satu-rdy Satu-rdy and Monday afternoons with the famed Pony Express race preluding the Monday show.
