Show Cub Scout Carnival Sat., April 8 Ticket sales began March 18 in Salt Lake and other nearby counties for the "Wonderful World of Scouting" Scout-ing" Cub Scout Carnival, to be held April 8, Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Salt Palace. SCOUTING demonstrations, demonstra-tions, puppet shows, a poster contest, pinewood derby races, stage shows, an obstacle ob-stacle course and other activities activi-ties are being planned. Tickets were distributed to each scouting district for distribution dis-tribution on March 18. POSTERS MADE by Cub Scouts are to be judged and must be in the Salt Palace by 2:30 p.m. on the day of the carnival. Carnival tickets are $1 for persons 14 years of age and-older, and-older, with children under 14 admitted free. Part of the money from each ticket sold will go back to local cub packs. Cub Scouts also receive prizes for selling tickets. LARRY Nielsen, Sandy, a Utah National Guard and Sandy city volunteer policeman, is carnival chairman. chair-man. Boyd Giles, a Great Salt Lake Council professional scouter is assisting volunteers volun-teers planning the annual event. Many of the 15,000 Cubs registered in the council, (Salt Lake, Tooele, Summit and South Davis counties) will participate in racing cars they have made for the pinewood derby. Cars made with stock wheels and modified wheels will be entered en-tered in separate races. |
