Show Pedestrian Overpass Future Seems Dim BOUNTIFUL - Prospects for a pedestrian overpass of U.S. Highway 89-91 near Slim Olson's Service Siation "look dim." Councilman Paul Allen told the Bountiful Cilv Council Wednesday night. HE SAID he adended a meeting of school principals, PTA leaders and Utah Department of Transportation Transporta-tion officials and the proposal is still under study. "But studies are also being made for alternative ideas for students to cross the busy highway." said Councilman Allen. HE EXPLAINED thai students attending Wnnrts Cross, but living east of the highway, and their parents, have been surveyed and the survey shows that students will not walk out of their way to cross at an overpass. "It was the general concensus concen-sus that unless the overpass is in the direct route of the students crossing the highway, high-way, they (students) will nut use the overpass." said Councilman Allen. "KIDS CROSS the highway along a half-mile stretch from 1500 South in Bountiful to 2600 South and it doesn't appear that they are willing to be channeled to an overpass to cross the highway." grb |
