Show TpcI Erecting Ciiccntind The Utah State Division of Parks and Recreation has discontinued trail grooming operations in the Monte Cristo and Mirror Lake areas. ONLY ONE week of operation opera-tion remains for the Wasatch Mountain complex. All trail grooming activities within the state will cease by March 31, 1978. Above average snow fall this season has provided snowmobilers with superb conditions for enjoying this rapidly growing winter recreational activity. IT HAS kept division personnel per-sonnel busy manicuring over . 500 miles of trails to accommodate accom-modate the state's 17,694 registered snowmobiles. Since 1971, when snowmobiles snow-mobiles became regulated under the Utah State Recreation Recrea-tion Vehicle Act, registrations have increased 54 percent. THIS DRAMATIC upswing in snowmobile activity foretells fore-tells future development of additional trail complexes with accompanying grooming services. The funding of new development and services will come from recreation vehicle registrations as they have done in the past. Saturday, April 1, will be the opening of South Davis Soccer Association spring season. On grassy fields all over the community, boys age 7-15 and girls age 7-10 will be playing soccer. THE TEAMS in the E Division (seven year old boys) are named after -the characters in Star Wars. In the opening games at the Woods Cross City Park R2-D2 will meet Ben Kenobi, Chew- . bacca will play Starship. THE IMPERIALS will vie with Darth Vader and Han Solo will take on the Rebels. 'At Millcreek Jr. High School you will find C-3PO versus Jedi Knights, The Falcon against Galaxy, The Force playing the Wookies and Luke Skywalker versus The Invaders. The games start at 8:30 a.m. and each game is about an hour long. THERE ARE five other divisions in the Association and they will all be playing every Saturday during April and May. Check the schools and parks in your area for the games. The ball is round and black and white and everyone will be having a lot of fun. IT IS A great spectator sport. Try it-you might like it!- |
