A beer license application for a proposed 7-11 store on the southeast comer of the intersection inter-section of Center Street and Highway 89-91 was turned down by the North Salt Lake City Council. The city limits the number of beer licenses to four. OFFICIALS SAY the city has exceeded that quota with the annexation of three additional addi-tional businesses which had obtained beer licenses prior to annexation. City officials set a public hearing date on April 18 to consider a rezoning application applica-tion to allow group dwellings along Highway 89-81. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Rogers had requested the reionlng of 300 North Highway 86-91 to allow the construction of two 4-plexes. 4-plexes. THEY PROPOSED that the moratorium on building along Highway 89-91 be lifted and the area be rezoned from R-3 to R3-A to allow business development along the highway. high-way. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers said they had purchased the property about the time the area was annexed to North Salt Lake, but had been prevented from building by the moratorium. Since the area has limited frontage, they are requesting that the lot be approved for a group development. The hearing will be held to also consider whether a planned group development can be allowed under either the R-3 or R-3A classification. IN OTHER business,' the council released the 5 percent retainer being held until the Roy McNeil Construction Company complete the curb, gutter, and sidewalk project along Highway 89-91. Since the construction is finished, the city released the sum of $4,043 being held as a retainer. re-tainer. The council also discussed the planting of 1,000 shrubs from the State Forester which will be placed on the hillside to prevent erosion. The city is to receive the shipment of the shrubs on April 6, and is hopeful that they can get Boy Scout troops to participate in the planting. Councilman Richard Strong has headed the planting project. The council also commissioned commis-sioned Assistant City Manager Collin Wood to inspect ins-pect and make note of any crossing on the streets or excavations ex-cavations witch need repair because of improper utility connections. The areas will be compacted by city crews prior to the completion of the project by Mountain Fuel. The council voted to give final approval to Orchard Hills East Plot II subdivision as amended provided that a holding pond under construction construc-tion be inspected and accepted accept-ed by Fred Campbell, city engineer. The acceptance is subject to the final check-off list being completed and signed by the planning commission com-mission and the city engineer, rk |
