Show V s, ' .,- , i 4,i , i in J JOHN ERICKSON John Erickson Teaching At Bountiful Art Center John Erickson is teaching "Figure Drawing (Anatomy)" (Ana-tomy)" and "Portrait and Figure Painting" for the Bountiful Art Center spring quarter. John, a graduate of the University of Utah in art, is also currently teaching in the foundations program in art at the University and is completing his second year of teaching for the Davis-University Davis-University of UtahBountiful Art Center. WORKING from both a skeleton and a live model, John will try to give his students a very thorough and basic overview of what the figure is and in an analytical way teach the universal characteristics of the human figure. In using a systemized approach in his teaching of anatomy, John hopes to give a firm and objective knowledge of figure structure and help students to avoid the very subjective errors in perception percep-tion and idiosynchrasies that often occur when drawing the figure without a background in anatomy. IN THE portrait and figure painting class, in addition to emphasis on anatomical structure, Mr. Erickson will explore the historical use of color in portrait painting and how it applies in painting the figure. Many of the spring quarter classes are still open to additional addi-tional enrollment. Students wishing to enroll for spring quarter may contact either the Davis Center at 581-8801 or the Bountiful Art Center at 581-8820 for information on available classes. "LANDSCAPE Painting (oils)", to be taught by Ken Baxter, and a photography class, "Shooting Excursions Workshop", begin Saturday, April 1. "Children's Art Workshop for ages 6-12 years will begin on Saturday, April 8. |
