Show Merit semifinalists named Twenty students from Davis County are among the semifinal-: semifinal-: ists for National Merit Scholarships, which will be awarded to ' about 6,000 students for the 1988 college school year. The program, now in its 33rd year, will award nearly $23 million in scholarships to students. These students represent some of the 15,000 semifinalists who were selected from over one million entries. Top scores in each state, representing about the top one-half of one percent of high school classes, are included in the nationwide semifinalist pool. - Local semifinalists include Cheryl L. Black, Eden Bodily, Meghan R. Busse, Russell B. Earl, Stephanie Ebert, Kiersten Gasser, Aaron W. Ostler, Jeffrey M. Place and Matthew R. : : Reed, all Bountiful High; Douglas M. Erickson and Scott M. : Porter of Viewmont High; and Damon V, Bryson and Elizabeth " Harmer of Woods Cross High. Also listed are Stephanie Bennett, Troy A. Home, Brett D. Hyde, Ann Streadbeck, Eric L. VanDyke and David J. Vetter, ' all of Davis High; and Amy L. Sutton of Layton High. Winners will be announced next spring. |
