Show UTAH DIVORCE STORIES Sewed Up in a Bedticlc and Black snakedAu Ogden Womans Fly Game No other Territory of the United States has furnished so muchbalm for mismated divorce hearts as Utah or performed the ceremony with the same cheapness and dispatch The Ogden Herald gives the following instances of some of the funny cases A woman i Ogden applied i the Probate Court for a decree of separation from her drunken spouse and stated on oath that he dnen i the habit of sticking pins into her arms and legs Another lady residing i one of the villages of this county was vla charged by her husband with being unwilling unwill-ing to allow their infant child to sleep on his side of the bed and he argued that this was a proof of her unfaithfulness I Salt Lake some years ago a miners wife sewed her huslxindup up i a bedtickand then whipped him with a blacksnake because be-cause he came home drunk He secured a divorce but reformed and married the same woman I Ogden less than two years since a man and his wife quarreled He sce went to Oregon to find work and she promised prom-ised to follow him but he fell ill and was sent to the Portland hospital In the meantime mean-time she became infatuated with an Idaho tme man and sued for a divorce in order to marry her new lover Her husband could not be found by the Sheriff and she purposely posely had a printed copy of the summons her sent to the wrong address Deeming self certain of securing the divorce her wedding wed-ding day was secung by some accident the sick man at Portland learned of the proceedings pro-ceedings hastened here and arrived on the very day of trial and just thirtysix hours before the time fixed for the wedding He proved her complaint to be false defeated her effort to obtain a legal separation and spoiled a costly cake spoied costy The causes prescribed by statute for which divorces can be granted are as various as the dvorces Every State and Territory has its particular list of statutory grounds for separation sep-aration except South Carolina which does not permit divorce for any cause Married once is married for life in that State |
