Show Two DC concerns gain SBA awards The U.S. Small-Business Administration Admi-nistration has announced the winners win-ners of the Utah Small Business Awards for 1986. "We are happy to honor these distinguished business owners," said R. Kent Moon, District Director Direc-tor of the Salt Lake office. "Each year a panel of distinguished members mem-bers from our financial community select those business owners whom they feel exemplify the en-trepreneural en-trepreneural qualities of outstanding outstand-ing Utahns who have dedicated themselves to the nation's economy. eco-nomy. This year our winners are indeed outstanding." Raymond J. Noorda, president and Chief Executive Officer of Novell, Inc. of Orem has been selected as the winner of the pre-stigeous pre-stigeous Utah Small Business Person Per-son of the Year award. Shahid Janjua, owner of Renny's Drive-thru in Bountiful, was selected as the Young Entrepreneur Entrep-reneur for 1986. This award is given to an outstanding young American, under the age of 30, who owns a small business and has shown evidence of success measured mea-sured by sales, profit and-or employment em-ployment growth. Four small business advocates were also named for the State of Utah. These individuals were selected for using their professional profession-al expertise or personal talents to further the understanding and awareness of small business. The individuals have also taken an active ac-tive role in creating opportunities to advocate the interests of small business. These winners are Kenneth J. Rose, owner of General Business Services, Bountiful, who was named Accountant Advocate. Phyllis Todd, vice president at First Interstate Bank, was named Financial Services Advocate. Andrew Gallegos, director of Impact, Im-pact, Inc., Business Development Center of Salt Lake City, received the honor as Minority Advocate. Serving as Veteran's Advocate for 1986 is William E. Christofferson of Salt Lake who has long represented repre-sented the needs of the Utah veterans. Receiving special awards for their contributions to the small business community will be Major General Charles McCausland from Hill Air Force Base. He will be recognized for his work with our Minority Small Business 8 (a) program. Also receiving special awards will be Randy Horiuchi and Larry Lunt, who will be recognized for their support and advocacy of our small business community. |
