Show Simpson earns food service scholarship NORTH SALT LAKE -- A Woods Cross High School senior is one of five recipients of a $300 scholarship to pursue a college education in food service preparation prepara-tion and management. Michael V. Simpson, 287 N. 100 East, received the scholarship from the Utah Restaurant Associa-' Associa-' tion. He plans to enroll at the Utah Technical College in Salt Lake City. Along with school courses, Michael has previously been employed em-ployed at Robintino's Restaurant and the Red Flame. According to URA president Max Fillmore, the food service industry in-dustry has grown 450 percent in sales volume during the past 16 years and is expected to be one of the top three business growth sectors sec-tors through the next 16 years. "This creates the need for more trained professionals receiving increased in-creased education," he said. Other recipients included students stu-dents from Park City, Bryce Ca-. nyon, Sandy and Salt Lake City. It was the second consecutive year that a Davis County graduate has been honored by the restaurant organization. - " |
