Show Salaries outlined A study released by the Utah Education Association shows that salaries of elementary and secondary principals in the Group 1 enrollment category, including the Davis School District, Dis-trict, are the second highest in average in the state. Group I elementary principals, those in districts with 23,000 or more enrollment, averaged $37,715 this year. Only group II principals, with enrollments of 10-23,000, made more. Their average salary this year was $38,306. In the secondary schools, the average principal's salary this year for Group I schools was $42,437, just below the Group II average of $42,780. The report further broke down salaries for each district. The Davis average for elementary principals was $36,294 this year, below the group average. The highest paid principal made $40,353, while the lowest paid earned $20,324. Among secondary secon-dary principals, the Davis District average was $41 ,079, ranging from one salary of $44,500 to a low of $37,069. Among assistant principals, the Davis average was $34,814 this school year, with a high salary of $39,358 and a low of $26,402. The study also detailed the Davis district guidelines for principal salaries, showing first year pay for elementary principals princip-als was $33,827; for junior high principals $34,898; for assistant junior high principals $33,126; for senior high principals $36,671; and for assistant high school principals $34,232. In terms of the central support staff, the Davis District supervisor super-visor staff has one supervisor at $41,530; one at $42,000, four at $41,530, and one each as $42,281, $27,290 and $21,040. The district pupil personnel director's salary is reported at $28,281 annually. District directors, coordinators and specialists had salaries ranging from $17,266 to $29,224. District deputy superintendent salary was reported at $28,869, considerably lower than the other Group I districts which averaged about $49,000 a year for the position. The Group I superintendent's salaries averaged $66,881 a year, ranging from $60,000 to $75,000. The average salary in the Davis district for non-classroom personnel with certificates was $24,134 for librarians, $27,318 for counselors, $24,583 for psychologists, $22,352 for speech and hearing, and $22,108 for social workers. In addition, district high school principals received $1,596 a year for mileage, junior high principals received $1,124 for mileage, assistant high school principals got $900, assistant junior high principals $786, and elementary principals $988. The report has been prepared each year by the association since 1970. |
