He went on to say, "We would hope that some other group would build a memorial to those that gave their lives in World War II and the Korean conflict." The names on the Vietnam memorial honor those who went into the service from Davis County and have been taken from the official list from the Veterans Administration. Space will be left to include the names of those now missing but not declared dead. At this time the Veterans' Administration will not give out those names and they cannot be included until their final status is verified. Speaking of Memorial Day, Com. Saunders said, "I've always looked forward to Memorial Day. It rekindles the feelings I experienced as a youngster during World War II. I'm proud to be an American. I think we should all be proud of that. I remember so many of our neighbors who did not return from World War II and the Korean conflict. And I remember others who came back in less than whole condition." Speaking of the Vietnam veterans in particular particu-lar he said, "The Vietnam veterans have struggled strug-gled like no other group to try to feel good about what they are trying to accomplish. Many feel the nation didn't appreciate what they did. I hope we will honor them as much as all the other veterans." j By CHERIE HUBER Three Boy Scouts from the Val Verda area have planned a war memorial for the service- -men who died in Vietnam. Thirty-one residents of Davis County gave their lives during the Vietnam war. Scott Blake, Jeremy Leavitt and Matthew Racker will erect the memorial as their Eagle Project. The boys have earned money that will go toward the memorial. They will also be asking Davis County cities and businesses for donations. The monument will be located at the northeast north-east entrance to the Davis County Courthouse. The design is intended to give visitors a place to pause and remember. The monument will contain con-tain a brass plaque with the nams and dates of death of each serviceman. The small plaza will also have seating for those who would like to stay and meditate. The dedication is tentatively planned for the 4th of July of this year. When the Davis County Courthouse was built in 1932, a memorial to every veteran from the time of Utah's statehood through World War I was included inside the building.
