Show 1 Sports In The Open Space .......wwww,:;:::;:;;; A yearly fish planting schedule for the state's twelve hatcheries was designed last week as meetings meet-ings were held by fisheries chiefs and biologists with superintendents superintend-ents of the various hatcheries. "We expect the new planting prgram to put more of the fish raised by the state into the angler's creel," said Department of Fish and Game Director J. Perry Egan. He noted that under the new program there were several reasons rea-sons to expect a greater number of hatchery fish to reach the creel and at the same time give increased in-creased production for each fisheries fisher-ies dollar expended. All future planting instructions will come from the department's central offices. These are now set up to conform with the facts gained gain-ed from field survey work under the continuing Dingle - Johnson state-wide fisheries survey project. Objects of the program are to place the right type, size and number of fish in each stream, lake and reservoir consistent with known productivity and angling pressure for each water. It is expected that considerably less duplication, and improper planting will result this year and in the future as the total stocking program is integrated on the statewide state-wide level with the known facts from the field surveys. F-S Anglers are reminded -to "beat the rush" this year by getting their 1955 fishing licenses before the May 28 general opening. With 500 agencies located over the state it is not necessarly presently pres-ently to wait for services when purchasing a license. However, the angler who waits until the last few days before the season opens may lose valuable time in the usual last minute rush. All agents have signs displayed noting availability of fish and or game licenses. All are presently amply supplied with them. Agents and Department of Fish and Game spokesmen alike encourage an early license purchase to avoid a rush and last minute chance some dealers may run s ia supply.
