Show Faculty Members Honored At P-TA Social Thurs. A tea honoring the faculty members mem-bers of the Roosevelt Elementary and Jr. High Schools was sponsored spon-sored last Thursday evening by the Parent-Teacher Association. Installation In-stallation of officers also took place. Presiding at the meeting was Anthon B. Christensen, outgoing Vice-president. Community singing sing-ing was led by Mrs. David Wat-kins, Wat-kins, with Mrs. Sheldon Fitzgerald as accompanist. Dr. Miles Allen, Duchesne P-TA Council president, installed the officers of-ficers and gave information on the council, its functions and purposes. pur-poses. A skit, entitled, "Kermit, the Culprit," was presented by Parent-Teacher magazine chairman, chair-man, and Mrs. Lucy Edwards. A vocal duet was sung by Mrs. Fitzgerald and Bennie Schmiett, accompanied by Mrs. Schmiett; saxophone quartet music was fur-, nished by Garth Tietjen, Tal War-die, War-die, Lawrence Lee and Reginald Burchinal. Newly installed officers included includ-ed Venil Johnson, president; Mrs. Donald Laris, 1st vice-president; John Blaine and Lawrell Jensen, principals, second and third vice-presidents; vice-presidents; and Mrs. Phil Pack, secretary-treasurer. Toasts to the teachers were given giv-en by Mrs. Ida Phillips from the Elementary School, and Mrs. Le-nore Le-nore Hutchings, Jr. High School. Refreshments were later served by the hospitality committee, Mrs. Laris, Mrs. Lynn Dye and Mrs. Mirl Jennings. The social concluded P-TA activity ac-tivity for this season, with new officers taking over in the fall. |
