Show FINAL P-TA MEETING The last P-TA meeting was held at Alterra on Thursday evening, May 5, with a very good attendance atten-dance of the parents. The boys, under the supervision of their physical education teacher, Samuel Sam-uel Hemingway, gave a very interesting inter-esting demonstration of tumbling. Supt. Max Abbott of Vernal, gave a worth-while talk about students being absent from school. Lovely refreshments were served to over seventy. Mrs. Mary Collins, who is now past 84 years, fell from the back porch at the home of her son, Bishop Golden Collins, last Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. She is the oldest mother in Ballard ward, and received re-ceived several bruises and injured ribs. Norman Rasmussen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Rasmussen, received a telephone call from Moab on Thursday, telling him of employment employ-ment there. Owen Asay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Seth Asay, and Miss LaRue Grove, daughter of Mrs. Vera Gardner, were married on April 30. David Lundberg, Alden White, Calvin Squire and Mr. Clement of Vernal, motored to Fairview last week to look at some milk coolers. The MIA officers and teachers held their monthly preparation meeting at the chapel, Monday evening, May 2. Mrs. Lynn Bracken accompanied Mrs. Marilyn Jennings to Bluebell I to spend Mother's Day with Mrs. Jennings' parents, , Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Goodrich. The Aaronic priesthood will present pre-sent the exercises at Sacrament meeting Sunday evening, May 15 and everyone is invited to attend the meeting. . Fourteen of the men in the community com-munity interested in dairying, met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Lundberg one evening last week to discuss their problems. Mrs. Junior Jenkins and family visited with her parents in Bluebell Blue-bell on Mother's Day. Quite a few from Ballard attended at-tended the wedding reception of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Asay at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hanson, Saturday evening, May 7. Mrs. Wayne Neilson, of Salt Lake City, a sister of Mr. Asay, was here for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cook and family motored to Springville to spend Mother's Day with Mrs. Cook's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Betts and family spent several days of last week in Salt Lake City, visiting with Mrs. Betts' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey McConkie. Word has been received from St. George that Mrs. Armand Wil-kins Wil-kins had fallen and broken one of her' hips. Mrs. Wilkins is 77 years old. They were former members mem-bers of Ballard ward. We hope she will soon recover from the fall. Mr. and Mrs. John K. Cook went to Maeser, Sunday afternoon to visit Mr. and Mrs. Howard Williams. |
