Show Vernal To Host Horseshoe Pitching Tourney Horseshoe pitchers of the Uintah Uin-tah Basin will take part in a state open tournament at Vernal, May 28. It will be one of seven open tournaments being held throughout the state by the Utah State Horseshoe Horse-shoe Pitcher's Association. The tournament will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to anyone in the Uintah Basin or the rest of the state who would like to participate. par-ticipate. Entrance fee will be $1. The other six open tournaments are as follows: Jayson, June 4; Salt Lake City, June 25; American Fork, June 11; West Jordan, July 9; and Ogden, August 13. In addition to the state open tournaments there will be three championship tournaments to be held as follows: "A" tournament at Payson on July 15 and 16; "B" tournament in Ogden, August 6 and 7; and "C" tournament in West Jordan, August 26 and 27. First qualifying matches for the state championship tournaments will also be held at Vernal on Mav-21, Mav-21, beginning at 7 p.m. From these qualifying pitches, the first, second and third sixteen best pitchers will be chosen for the three state meets. Pitchers may qualify at American Ameri-can Fork, June 15; Murray, June 18, Payson, June 22; Ogden, July 2; Liberty Park, Salt Lake City, July 5; and West Jordan, July 8, all of them beginning at 7 p.m. |
