Show Neola Couple To Observe Golden Vedding April 1 It was on April Fool's day in 1901 when married life began for Mr. and Mrs. James O. Pet- erson, early settlers of Ashley valley, now residents of Neola. During those 50 years this active ac-tive couple has proven that even though they selected April 1 as their wedding date, a couple can be happy and achieve the worthwhile things in life if they follow consistent principles of living together. Relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Peterson will join with them on April 1 at the home of their son, Thurman Peterson, in Neola, to. celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary, and extend ex-tend good wishes to them for many more years of happiness together. The celebration will be in the form of an open house, and a broad invitation is extended extend-ed to all their friends to pay them a visit on April Fool's day, Mrs. Peterson was born at Payson on Jan. 18, 1876, a daughter of Philo and Jane Davis Da-vis Searle, and moved with her parents to Ashley Valley in 1885. Her husband is the son of Peter and Mary Thurman Peterson and was born May 22, 1877 at Cedar Fort, Utah, and at the age of two (1879), moved to Ashley Valley with his parents. The couple were first married at Vernal, April 1, 1901, but later were united for time and eternity at the Salt Lake temple. tem-ple. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Oct. 26, 1910. Three children were born to this union, two sons and a daughter. Two of their children, Ray Peterson and Ada P. Hut-cheon, Hut-cheon, reside in Salt Lake City, and Thurman is a resident of Neola. They have 13 grandchildren grand-children and 5 great-grandchildren. Following their marriage, the Petersons moved to Vernal to establish their home, where they remained until 1908, when they moved to Hayden. Later they moved to Neola, where they now reside. Both Mr. and Mrs. Peterson have been active members of the L.D.S. church throughout their married life. He holds the office of High Priest and has been active in priesthood work and in the various auxiliaries. His wife has been an ardent worker in Relief Society and is a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Both admit their church work has been a great source of happiness and pleasure to .them during their lives. |
