Show School Transportation Improved .... County Schools Add Three New Busses Three new Dodge school buses bus-es started transporting Duchesne county school students this week, Supt. Dean C. Christensen has announced. One of the three new buses was assigned to the east Neola route, one to the Upalco-Alta-mont route, and the other to the Midview route. These three new 60-passenger carriers represent an $18,000 investment for the Duchesne county school district, including cost of accessories, freight and insurance, the superintendent reports. re-ports. Purchase was made through the Duchesne Motor Co., Clive Sprouse, agent. Operation of these three new buses will alleviate an overcrowded over-crowded condition which was prevalent in the school transportation trans-portation facilities in Duchesne county. The bus assigned to Dick Fau-sett Fau-sett on the Upalco-Altamonl route replaces a carrier which was used to transport 65 students stu-dents in a 48-passenger capacity bus Fausett's bus was transferred trans-ferred to Howard Rowley for the Mt. Home route. The bus which was driven by Mr. Rowley Row-ley is being kept in the Alta-mont Alta-mont maintenance station es an emergency carrier the first to be available for the seven Alta-mont Alta-mont routes. Leonard Smith, driver for the Midview route into the Myton elementary school, was assigned another of the new carriers. Sixty-one pupils were riding this 48-passenger bus daily. This bus was transferred to the west Neola route, which is driven by Leroy Gardner. Gardner's old model bus was brought to the Duchesne school garage and will be used as an emergency vehicle. Lazelle Henrie received the other new Dodge lor the east Neola route. His 43-passenger carrier will be kept at Roosevelt Roose-velt for emergency use the first to be available there where 9 bus routes terminate. Including the $18,000 expenditure expendi-ture for the three new Dodges, the Duchesne county school district dis-trict has expended $55,000 on student transportation during the 9-month school term for 1949-50, or an average of $6,000 per month. There are 26 school routes in the county.
