Show Ellen Bracken Phone 62062 Ward Reunion Is Set For Feb. 23 Our Ward Reunion, which is always held' on Feb. 22, has been postponed until the 23rd. Invitations Invita-tions are given to all who have been member of the Ballard ward at anytime. There will be a supper given and also the full evening of entertainment. Mr. and Mrs, Elbie Winn and small son left Friday morning on a vacation. They plan on visiting Mrs. Winn's parents at Grant's Pass, Oregon. HOLD WARD MEETING The Ward Primary preparation meeting was held Thursday evening, eve-ning, Feb. 9 at the' home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cook, with fifteen officers and teachers present. Mrs. John Page assisted Mrs. Cook in serving refreshments, after the lesson had been given. Mr., and Mrs, Jason Cuch and Mr. and Mrs. Albert LaRose left Friday on a trip up into Idaho. Mr. ' and Mrs. Floyd Campbell of Maeser, visited with Mr. and Mrs. George Bracken on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell are missionaries mis-sionaries with the Indians and had attended a funeral for LeRoy Longhair in Whiterocks. Mrs, Gladys Brunken of Eugene, Ore. is visiting with her mother, Mrs. Effie Winn,- at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gardner. COMING HOME Kenneth Betts, son of Mr. and' Mrs. Clarence' Betts, was expected expect-ed home this week after spending four years in the armed forces. After Af-ter serving two years, Kenneth re-enlisted so he has spent time in various places and was overseas for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Molyneaux and small, daughter of Salt Lake City were visitors on Monday, Feb. 6 for some time' with Mr. and Mrs. Eric A. Stolla. Ned Gines spent last weekend in Salt Lake City with his wife, who is there receiving medical care. Mr. Gines reports that his wife's condition at this time is very much improved. The baby son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Winn was on the sick list this past week. PRIMARY GRADUATES Charles Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jenkins, and Larane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ercil Johnson, were graduated from Primary Pri-mary Sunday evening into MIA. PRESENTS LESSON Mrs. Eunice Cook presented the theology lesson in Relief Society on Tuesday, Feb. 7, and Mrs. Vionne Parrish will present the literature lesson on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Word has been received that Mrs. Lynn Bracken was a patient at the Tooele Hospital for several days last week., She had her tonsils ton-sils removed. She is staying at present with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Rowberry. HONORS BIRTHDAY Mrs. David Lundberg entertained the following group in honor of heT daughter, Marie's birthday on Sunday, Feb. 5. Mr. and Mrs. Knowles of Neola, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Winn and family and Mrs CalVin Squire and sons, Lyle and DeLoy. The Scouts from Ballard played basketball at Alterra on Wednesday Wednes-day evening with the Scouts from Lapoint. Ballard was the loser. Miss Carma White of Roosevelt Roose-velt was a weekend guest of Miss Billy Jean Brisbin at the home of her parents, the Bill' Brisbins. Mrs. Earl Gardner left Friday morning for Holbrook, Arizona, to take care of the three children of Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Win while Mrs. Winn went to the hospital for a major operation. Mr. Winn, who is formerly of Alterra, is a brother of Mrs. Gardner. Mrs. Clarence Betts received word from a daughter and two sons, who reside in Eureka, Calif, that that place is still isolated by recent floods. The road's in that territory were completely washed out ' and as yet have not been fully repaired. ATTEND CONVENTION Mr. and Mrs, Wendell Johnson went to Salt Lake City on Friday to participate in a special L.D.S. Temple excursion for Seminary instructors in-structors from several sections. They also attended a Seminary convention on Saturday. Primary officers and teachers will canvass the ward this week on the Birthday Penny Drive. We are asked to be liberal in this worthy cause. Mrs. Leland Angus has been acting as substitute teacher for several days last week at Union High School'. Max Todd has been put in as the Explorer leader of the ward'. |
