Show BASIN BRIEFS j Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Frand-sen Frand-sen motored to Salt Lake City, Monday, to go through the temple with Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Bell and family. Mrs. Bell is the former Naomie Todd. Mrs. Mollie Spencer, of Ne- ola, was pleasantly surprised on her birthday when the following brothers and sisters came to spend the weekend: Mr. and Mrs. Marion Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. Percel Seeley and family, Mrs. Roxie Gull, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Erickson and family, all of Spanish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Seeley and family, Helper; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Seeley and family, Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Peterson and family, Indianola. Marvin Todd has gone to Taft, California, to get his family. fam-ily. They will reside at the Thomas R. Todd home until able to locate permanently. Mr. and Mrs. Varney McLea spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Edgar Holder, Mt. Emmons, and Mr. and Mrs. J. V. McLea, Roosevelt. Roos-evelt. They are now living in Pueblo, Colo., where Varney is working with an oil company. Marlene Fredrickson, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Fredrickson, left Friday to spend the balance of the summer in Junction City, Kan. Miss Virginia Lambert, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Lambert, of Roosevelt, left for Minneapolis, Minn., June 28. She will finish her schooling at the University of Minnesota, while living with an older sister, sis-ter, Mrs. J. G. Poore, nee Inez Lambert. Virginia graduated from Roosevelt Roos-evelt high school as valedictorian valedictor-ian of her class, and while studying at Brigham Young university un-iversity has maintained a 2.8 scholastic average. She was chosen to serve on the Women's Executive Council of the University Uni-versity for the coming year, but declined to accept the position po-sition because of her planned de-pax'ture de-pax'ture for Minneapolis. She served on the staff of the yearbook year-book and paper while at B.Y.U., and was prominent in art work. Virginia plans to pursue a career in psychiatric social work. Bonnie Hullinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hullinger, of Ballard, left for Salt Lake Wednesday. She will be married to Merrill Brimhall, of Arizona, former missionary stationed at the Uintah Basin Indian Mission, in a temple ceremony on June 29. Mrs. Paul Wilkins drove to Salt Lake June 26 to bring her son, Cal, back to spend the summer months in Roosevelt. J. W. Snell, district manager of Mountain States Telephone company, made an official visit to Roosevelt Friday. Mr. Snell was transferred to Provo recently recent-ly to replace J. L. Bickmore, who has transferred to Idaho. Cpl. William A. Alsberg, instructor in-structor in the radio operators school at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss., spent his furlough in Ft. Duchesne with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. P. Alsberg. During his furlough, Cpl. Alsberg, his mother, and a brother, Charles O. Alsberg, visited with friends and relatives rela-tives in San Francisco and Val-lejo, Val-lejo, California, returning to Ft. Duchesne June 22. Cpl. Alsberg- left Sunday to return to his base. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Richman, of Provo, spent a few days during dur-ing the week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Richman. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Labrum, of Altadean, Calif., are guests at the home of their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Labrum. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rogers and daughter, motored to Roosevelt Roos-evelt Sunday to get their son, Terry, who has been visiting the Adwin Beeler family. Wendel J. Duncan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oluf Duncan, of Ne-ola, Ne-ola, recently entered the Salt Lake Mission home, preparatory to filling a mission in New England Eng-land for the L.D.S. church. Wendell, who has been living in Union with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smith, was honored last Sunday at a farewell testimonial in the Union Un-ion second ward chapel. Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Hullinger Hullin-ger went to Bountiful over the weekend to attend the missionary mission-ary farewell testimonial for Mrs. Hollinger's brother Glen Goodrich, Good-rich, who is leaving to serve in the Texas - Louisiana mission field. Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Walker Walk-er have moved to Salt Lake City for the summer, where Bob has employment. Mrs. R. O. Reese is visiting in Logan with Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Reese. The Roosevelt ladies softball team defeated the Montwell ladies la-dies team, 24-12, in a game played Wednesday evening at the Roosevelt park. Playing for Roosevelt were Edith Hardinger, Venus McDonald, Betty Alexander, Alex-ander, Mary Lou Harmston, Virginia Vir-ginia Fenn, Lena McDonald, Betty Freston, Kay Gardner, and Darlene Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Gehring, of Bartlesville, Okla., and Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Norman, of War-rensburg, War-rensburg, Mo., are guests at the A. L. Norman home. Mrs. Wanda Campbell, of Reno, Re-no, Nev,, it? visiting this week with her mother, Mrs. Pearl Moysh, and her sister, Mrs. Mont Killian. Mrs. Elmo Nelson, of Bingham Canyon, is visiting this week with her parents, Mayor and Mrs, Homer P. Edwards, and other relatives and friends. ' ' i George and Charles Harper, and Gail Cashatt, of Birmingham, Birming-ham, Alabama, returned to their home Thursday after spending a week here with their sister, Mrs. Louise Gurr. Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Waugh,' of San Francisco, and Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Cox, of New York, have been visiting their mother, Mrs. R. O. Reese, and sister, Mrs. Jack McArthur. Dr. and Mrs. R. V. Larson left Sunday for San Francisco, California, to attend the national na-tional convention of the American Ameri-can Medical Association. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Cunningham Cunning-ham and family, of San Bernardino, Bernar-dino, Calif., are visiting in Ft. Duchesne with Eric Zufeit, and with their mother, Mrs. Minnie Zufeit, who is in the Vernal hospital. |
