Show Assessing Data Is Given By County Assessor Under the state constitutional mandate, the' Utah Legislature is required, to provide by law for uniform and equal assessments, there have been some questions raised as to the uniformity of assessments as-sessments according to the' present legal definition of "value." G.. B. Workman, Duchesne county coun-ty assessor, gives the following replies re-plies about this county's assessment assess-ment procedure, as it relates to interpretations and practices in assessing as-sessing property at 40 per cent of reasonable fair cash value. Do you believe the present property pro-perty assessment date should be changed? Mr. Workman "Yes. On motor vehicles from January 1 to March 1, as too many dealers bring in unassessed cars after January 1." What change, if any, in the state law would you propose? Mr. Workman "Household furniture entirely exempt to home owners, as the present plan of assessment does not pay for the cost of assessment. as-sessment. I should like to see the 40 per cent clause, Sec. S9-5-, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, which provides all taxable property must be assessed at 40 per cent of its reasonable cash value,: stricken and property assessed at cost less depreciation." Questions Answered What is your basis for assessing real estate property? "Motor vehicles fair cash value as per NADA official' guide; household furniture cost less depreciation less $300 exemption for home owners; livestock fair cash value val-ue as recommended by the Utah State Tax Commission; other cost less depreciation, less 40 per cent." Do you believe the Utah State Tax Commission has properly assessed as-sessed property in your county under un-der the re-valuation program thus far completed real estate, improvements, im-provements, other property?
