Show This Week's RECIPE . . . Looking for a good hot bread recipe? Try the following Bishop's Bish-op's Bread. You will love to serve it as an accompaniment to a good summer salad. It is also delicious with a dinner or may be served just as a snack. Mrs. Wesley R. Dickerson submitted sub-mitted the recipe. BISHOP'S BREAD (Serves 12) Vz cup shortening 2V4 cups flour 2 tsp. ' baking powder V2 tsp. soda V2 tsp. salt 2 cups brown sugar (not packed) 2 eggs cup buttermilk 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 cup nuts V2 cup raisins Mix brown sugar, flour and shortening as for pie crust. Save cup of this mixture for topping. Add rest of dry ingredients, then eggs and buttermilk. r Beat well. Then add nuts and raisins. Bake in shallow greased pan (dough should be inch thick). Sprinkle the cup of dry ingredients over top before baking. Bake in 400 degree oven for 25 minutes. Cut in squares and serve hot with butter. |
