Show Coach Wright To Return To His Alma Mater That Union High School's 1953 football team will have a new coach when school begins next fall became a certainty with the announcement, Wednesday, Wed-nesday, that Elden Wright, Cougar Cou-gar coach for the past two years, will return to his alma mater, Wasatch High at Heber, next fall. According to Principal L. F. Hutchings, Coach . Wright's place at Union has not been filled, and applications for the position will be received by him at his office at Union High. Coach Wright came to Roose velt High in the fall of 1950 as football coach and then moved to Union when the school first opened in 1951. His first Cougar team won the Region Five title and entered the Class B semifinals, semi-finals, losing .to Cyprus 21-19 at Magna. In addition to his work , as football coach, Mr. Wright has been assistant basketball coach and directed the "B" squads during the three years he has been here. In addition to his various coaching responsibilities Mr. Wright has taught physiology, physiol-ogy, and was counselor to the new guidance program at Union. Un-ion. He has also' acted as principal prin-cipal in the absence of Mr. Hutchings. |
