Show Jen Point Scout Progam Outlined By Utah Council A ten point boy scout program has been outlined by Utah National Nation-al Parks Council officials as part of the four year Onward For God and Country program for the new scouting year beginning, September 1, 1956, reports Rulon Dean Skinner, Skin-ner, Field Scout Executive. First objective during the coming com-ing scouting year will be to secure two-deep leadership in all scouting units. This means a cubmaster and assistant; scoutmaster and assistant; as-sistant; or explorer advisor and assistant. Approximately 30 of the units in the Basin now have two-deep leadership. Second objective of scouting in the Utah National Parks Council Uintah Basin a reality, concluded Mr. Skinner for 1956-57 incl.ude:(a) basic training train-ing for top unit leaders and (b), basic training for junior (bo) leaders. Present records show that 40 out of 89 of the top leader's of the Uintah Basin have received and completed basic training. Only 12 of the basin's 89 units have trained junior leaders. Three Objectives Objective number three is an adequate commissioner staff which has completed training. A total of 12 men are presently registered regis-tered as commissioners in the four districts of the Uintah Basin. Seven of these have completed basic commissioner training. The number of commissioners should be 30. , Fourth objective of the new scouting year beginning September 1 is an adequate outdoor program. For cub scouts this is three outdoor out-door pack meetings during the year: for boy scouts it is 10 days and nights of camping attended by at least 50 of the troop; and for exploreres it is a two day high adventure each year with the mobilization program tested. Eleven of the basin's 12 cub packs presently have adequate outdoor programs. Only seven of the basin's 43 scout trops qualified for certificates in adequate camping camp-ing program for 1955-56. Five of the basin's 34 explorer posts have met the outdoor requirements for young men. Outstanding Program Termed as outstanding during 1955-56 was the advancement program pro-gram of the Uintah Basin where 887 badges of rank were awarded the registered' 1205 boys. Objective Objec-tive number five for the new scouting year is to increase to the number of registered boys the number of rank advancement. Also an effort will be made to increase in-crease from 5 to 43 the number of troops with 40 of its members mem-bers first class and above. Presently the number of BOYS' LIFE subscriptions in the Uintah Basin is 256. Listed as objective number six is to increase the number of subscriptions to reach eveTy registered scout. Allowing for two boys from the same family fami-ly being registered the estimated total subscription should be increased in-creased to 1,000. Objective number seven is to increase the number of scouting units' from 89 to 100. During the last scouting year 15 new scouting units were organized. An effort will be made to reregister re-register the 89 existing scouting units in the Uintah Basin secton of. the Utah National Parks Council. Coun-cil. This is objective number 3. Last year all but two (Strawberry and Bennett troops) were re-registered. Goal Is High Objective number nine is to increase in-crease from 1205 to 1500 boys the number of registered' Cubs, boy scouts and explorers in the basin. There were 2001 boys 'of scouting scout-ing age in the basin on January 1, 1956. During the 1955-56 scouting scout-ing year the number of registered boys in scouting increased in the basin from 1043 to 1205. Objective ten is to have all 89 units qualify for national recognition rec-ognition in the four year Onward For God and Country program. Within the next month district officials for 1956-57 will be selected select-ed in the Duchesne, Moon Lake, Roosevelt and Uintah Scout districts. dis-tricts.
