Show Another Pioneer of Basin Dies Of Heart Ailment Cyrus Brigham Larsen, 65, one of the Basin's early pioneers, died at approximately 5:30 a.m- Wednesday Wed-nesday of a heart ailment at his home north of Roosevelt. Mr. Larsen was born in May-field, May-field, Utah, March 12, .1891,- to Minnie Sophia and Christian Larsen. Lar-sen. He came to the Uintah Basin in 1906 as one of the first settlers and has seen it grow from prairie country to the present community. He spent many years of his life freighting, both by team and truck, into the - Basin. In addition to many other things he hauled the machinery for the Roosevelt Flour Mill, which he operated for nearly ten years, acquiring an enviable reputation as a miller. He also helped to complete the mill building- Serveral years later he moved from Roosevelt to a farm on the outskirts of town where he resided re-sided until his death. Mr. Larsen married Anna Mary Hancock' May 24, 1910, being the first couple to be married in the town of Roosevelt. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, journeying to Salt Lake City from Roosevelt in a horse and buggy. Survivors include his wife; one son, Bernard (Buzz) Larsen; four daughters, Mrs. Cleo March, Mrs. Gordon (Shar Lynn) Benson of Roosevelt; Mrs. Bud (Freda) Mar-key Mar-key and Mrs- Glenn (Delores) Allred, both of Gusher; twenty grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Funeral, services will be .held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Roosevelt Roose-velt LDS stake chapel under the direction of Bishop Ralph Shields. Friends may call at the Olpin Mortuary until time of the funeral. Burial will be in the Roosevelt cemetery. |
