Show .Lccai Projects Flay Be deluded in Ssiiali Projects Bill Sen. Wallace F. Bennett disclosed dis-closed this week that three reclamation rec-lamation projects in Duchesne Co. may be eligible for participation in the Small Raclamation Program signed into law by President Eisenhower on Monday. The three are the Minnie Maude I Project, Red Creek and Chepeta Lake. Sen. Bennett emphasized ' that the inclusion of the projects is only tenative and that further study will be made by the Bureau of Reclamation before a final decision deci-sion is made. In each case, the project would involve construction of a small dam and appurtenatn works. If the projects are all approved, they wil provide supplemental irrigation ir-rigation for approximately 7600 acres in Duchesne County and will involve expenditure of about (Continued on Back Page) k SMALL PROJECTS BILL . . . (Continued from page one) $1,450,000 within the county. Commends Sen. Watkins Sen. Bennett said that much of the credit for the Prisident's approval ap-proval of the bill should go to Sen. Arthur V. Watkins, who made a special trip to the White House Tuesday to urge the President to sign it. There has been considerable consider-able pressure on the President to veto the bill, Sen. Bennett said. "This next act will be of tremendous tre-mendous value to the state of Utah," . Sen. Bennett said. "It is quite possible that this program will make more water available for irrigation use in the state than the Upper Colorado River Storage Stor-age Project." Sen Bennett has urged the Bureau of Reclamation to take speedy action to complete studies of Utah projects so that construction con-struction can begin as soon as possible. |
