I - - - t .:-'" . j j l- & THEY'LL REIGN IN 1956 These three lovely girls were chosen from a field of twenty-seven of the Basin's most lovely,, to rule and reign over the 1956 U. B I. C. Chosen as queen was blonde Marilyn Anderson, center, who will be attended by Miss Diane Nelson, left, and Miss Valoy Reynolds, r'ght . . . They were chosen at the annual U.B.I.C. Queen, dance held at Rivola last Friday night. Queen, Attendants Chosen To Reign Over 1956 UBIC Marilyn Anderson of Roosevelt was selected 1956 UBIC queen at the annual UBIC queen dance held last Friday night at Rivola dance , hall. Miss Anderson was sponsored by the Roosevelt Ki-wanis Ki-wanis Club. Attendants to Miss Anderson are Diane Nelson and VaLoy Reynolds, both of Roosevelt. Miss Nelson was sponsored by Leavitt Equipment and Miss Reynolds by Dick and Jessie's Shop. The queen and her attendants were chosen from a total of 27 contestants. The judging was narrowed nar-rowed to eight finalists and from this number the queen and her two attendants were chosen. Friendliest Girl Miss Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Anderson, graduated gradu-ated from Union High School in 1953, and is presently secretary of that school. She was chosen as Miss Duchesne County at the county fair last year, and was voted the friendliest girl at last year's Miss Utah contest. Miss Nelson, daughter of Mrs. Paul. Nelson, graduated from the Union High School in 1955 and attended Birgham Young University Univer-sity last year. Miss Reynolds is the daughter of Mrs. Carlyle Reynolds Rey-nolds and is a senior at Union High School. (Continued on Back Page) UBIC QUEEN CHOSEN . . . (Continued From Page 1) The new queen was crowned by Joe Ann Walker Harris, 1955 UBIC Queen. Mrs. Don Crittenden Critten-den presented the queen and her attendants with gifts. Miss And'er-received And'er-received a Jantzen sweater and the attendants each received a figurine. Bennie Schmiett was master of ceremonies and Mrs. Garth Gardner Gard-ner sang a vocal solo during intermission. Judges for the contest were Mrs. Andy Norling of Vallejo, Calif, and university instructors who are here teaching extension classes Berniece Sly, Alma Heat-on Heat-on and Steve Gilmore. Lead Parade The queen and attendants led the UBIC parades on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. They were introduced at the general session Thursday morning. Besides the queen and attendants attend-ants the following girls were finalists fin-alists in the run for royalty: Gwennita Curry, sponsored by Len-El Gifts; Judy Hatch, Social-ette Social-ette Club; Teddie Reidhead, Jay's Ice Cream; JoAnn Ross, Grace's Dress Shop; and' Lorraine Hampton, Hamp-ton, Harrison Appliance. The queen dance was sponsored by the Socialette Club with Mrs. Don Crittenden acting as chairman,, chair-man,, assisted by Mrs. Sharon Cummings and Mrs. Keith Campbell. |
