Holes lelecised For Miss Poctiesiie City' Cofest- , Personality, Citarm, Poise Are EVlain Points To Be Considered; Bathing Suit Showing Eliminated Plans and rules fnr the Miss Duchesne County Contest were announced an-nounced this week by Mrs. Doug McKinlay, chairman. The contest, scheduled for Aug. 30, will be the opening event of the Duchesne county fair. All girls desiring to enter should obtain an application blank, fill it out and turn it back to the committee by Aug. 18. Rules and regula-tons regula-tons for entry are: 1. Contestant must be a resident of Duchesne County for six months "prior to contest. 2. Contestant must . be single and never have been married, divorced, or had marriage annu'ed. 3. Contestant's age on Sept. 1, 1956 shall not be less than 17, nor more than 25 years.. 4. Contestant must be a high school graduate or attending high school at time of contest. 5. Contestant must be of good character and possess poise, personality, per-sonality, intelligence, charm and beauty of face and figure. 6. Contestant must possess and display a three-minute routine talent. This talent may be singing, sing-ing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, dramatic reading, or she may give a three minute talk on the career she wishes to pursue. 7. Contestant must be in' good health. Wholesome Beauty Emphasis of the contest will be placed on wholesmoe beauty, personality, poise and charm, Mrs. McKinlay stated. She also urges girls who have no talent to enter the contest and give a three-minute three-minute talk on the career she wishes to pursue. Appearance in a bathing suit in the county contest has been eliminated. This has kept a number of girls from entering local contests in the past, which prompted the state committee to delete the bathing suit phase from conuty contests. Committee members helping Mrs. McKinlay with the contest this year are Mrs. Dick Bastian, Roosevelt, co-chairman; and the following co-workers: Mrs. Marley Davies, Duchesne; Mrs. Marvin Bell, Arcadia; Mrs. LaVar Dennis, Myton; Mrs. Winslow Rhoades, Hanna;. and Mrs. Thad Wilkerson, Neola. Trophy Is Given A trophy has been contributed to the Miss Duchesne County Contest by Sathers' Jewelry. It will be kept in the county courthouse court-house and the name of each new Miss Duchesne County will be engraved on it for many years. McKinlay Motor will contribute a crown for Miss Duchesne County Coun-ty which will be retained by each winner to have during her official reign. Samsonite Luggage will be presented to the queen and her two. attendants. It has been purchased pur-chased with donations of many Roosevelt and Duchesne merchants. mer-chants. The Queen will also be presented with many lovely gifts donated from businesses throughout through-out the county. The committee wishes to publicly pub-licly express appreciation to the' businesses that have made these lovely gifts possible. Gifts are: Travel Iron, hair styling, Jantzen swim suit, dress, slippers, dinners, rhinestone set, jewelry, slips, western shirt, cardigan cardi-gan sweater, nosegays and gift certificates. |
