Show GasualUj Qhse'ioincj By Cliff Memmott j FRIENDLY GESTURE Several new families who have moved into the community of Duchesne the past few weeks were especially especial-ly honored recently when their new ' neighbors had a party in their honor. A royal welcome is being extended' Dr- and Mrs. Vernon Young and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Warner. Dr. Young takes over the practice of Dr. John Smith and Mr. Warner is the new primary supervisor for Duchesne county schools I am sure that these new comers to our community com-munity will thoroughly enjoy the friendliness of their new found neighbors and friends and we join in saying, "Welcome." --co-- If we could see oursleves as others Bee us, we'd realize how deceiving appearances can be. - - co - - BLUE CARD CONTROL The Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce has as one- of its objectives to try and control itinerant peddlers and' solicitors among the business people .... It's a good plan if the man or woman who operates a business will insist on a "Blue CARD PERMIT" before they listen to some idea not directly connected with his own business. Just send the solicitor to the City Hall and the Chamber secretary secre-tary will do the rest. --co-- SHE MISSED THE PARADE They tell me Ken Morgan, Penney manager,, got so excited about selling dance tickets on Wednesday afternoon while the UBIC parade was in progress that he locked one of his clerks in the store. He closed shop to give his hired help a chance to see the parade .... That kind of loyalty and enthusiasm is generously appreciated, Ken. -co-- DIDN'T DO MUCH Last week I announced I was taking my first fishing trip up into the High Uintas .... Well, I went along but fouled out in the second inning in-ning .... That 10,500 altitude at Lake Clement was too high for me, so I had to come home ! early, but I did catch my first and only fish ... I'm going to try it again sometime, only at lower altitudes. - - c o - - Dad worked for 18 years, to keep the wolf away. Then Daughter up and married one and brought him home to stay! --co-- WORKING HARD If the 1956 Duchesne County Fair doesn't turn out to be . a grand success, it won't be because of the untiring un-tiring efforts of an ambitious chairman .... Weston Bates is doing do-ing a whale of a job getting things lined up, and incidently he is getting a lot of fine help from other committee members . . . You can show your appreciation to Weston by supporting the coming County Fair August 30, 31 and September 1. --co-- The less one has to do, the less time he finds in which to do it, -30- |
