Mr. McKinlay is one of four members appointed by Gov. J. Bracken Lee, March 25, 1956 for the State Advisory Committee on Indian affairs, Jason Cuch, Tribal Chairman also attended the Council. R-N Lula Murdock, President and Elidabeth Bumgarner, Secretary, for the mixed blood Board of directors motored to Salt Lake Wednesday where they witnessed the signature of John S. Boyden to the one year contract for lawyer law-yer for the Affiliated Ute Citizens of Utah. Coleman, Welfare Agent and Reed Hanson, newly appointed agent for the Rehabilitation Re-habilitation program offered the Mixed Blood Indians thru the U. of U. R-N Mr, and Mrs. Charles J. Carter left for Gallup, New Mexico Sunday. Sun-day. Mr. Carter will . assist tthe Gallup police force to maintain law and order during the Annual American Indian Days Dance ceremonies R-N E. M. Axtell, civil irrigation engineer from Alexandra, Va. spent a week on the reservation on a routine field inspection trip. He left Tuesday to meet with Area Land Operations officers in Reno, Nevada. Mr, Axtell was irrigation engineer for this agency and resided in Ft. Duchesne before his transfer to Virginia. R-N Mr and Mrs. Pete Padia from Ft. Washakie, Wyo. were agency visitors Monday. R-N Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Parriett were in Salt Lake and Brigham City over the weekend. R-N Mr. and Mrs. Victor Mitchell from Orem visited relatives over the weekend and spent Sunday with the Preston Aliens at Altonah. R-N (Misplaced Last Week) JOINT MEETING HELD The full blood Tribal Business Committee had a joint meeting with the mixed blood Board of Directors July 30. The committee released one policeman, Pamp Harris. 'His car and equipment go to the mixed bloods and he will be paid by the Affiliated Utes. Oran F. Curry was relieved of duty upon request of the Fish and Game Board. The resignation of Harvey Natchees as Alternate Judge was also approved. John S. Bolden, tribal attorney from Salt Lake attended the meetng with the two groups. R-N Reggie Bumgamer left Thursday for Ft. Ord, Calif, where he will enter the armed service in the regular Army, The Uintah and Ouray Tribal Business Committee has declared and did set August 15, 1956 as official ELECTION DAY for the purpose of electing a member of the Whiteriver Band to the Uintah and Ouray Tribal Business Committee to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Russell Cuch. Polling places will be at White-rocks, White-rocks, Ft. Duchesne, Randlett, Ouray and Myton and will be open between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and t:uu p.m. on the day set. in the nomination meeting duly held July 17th the following persons were nominated: Henry Cuch, John Wopsock, Charley Cuch, Jakey Cuch and Frank Chegup. R-N The Myton Cattle Association held their summer roundup over the weekend. R-N Mr. and Mrs. Paul Howard and family visited with the Wilson Gutzmans this week. Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Gutzman are sisters. Mr. Howard was range manager for the agency before his transfer to Pine Ridge, So, Dakota. R-N Mr. and Mrs. Tawannee Kolb have returned to their home in Altonah to make arrangements on their property, etc. before leaving for work on relocation. Mr. Kolb has just completed a course in electronic engineering at Oakland, Calif, thru the Bureau's Vocation Training program. R-N Pamp Harris, chief of police and Judge Dwight Copperfield and family attended the Sun Dance ceremonies at Ft, Washakie, Wyo. over the wekend. They will return home after the feast on Wednesday. Wednes-day. R-N Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Rolfe and son arrived here where Mr. Rolfe will be employed as Realty Assis. in charge of farming and grazing. They came here from Wahyston, So, Dakota and will make their home at Ft. Duchesne. |
