C. Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Talboe, Mr. and Mrs, James Dalgleish and Mrs. W. r. Harris. 40 & 8 ENGINE HERE The youngsters of Myton experienced ex-perienced a real thrill in the early evening, Wednesday, when the 40 & 8 engine arrived from Salt Lake City, enroute to Vernal to participate parti-cipate in the Department convention conven-tion of the American Legion and Auxiliary. The children and many adults were treated to a short ride in the engine, which is a replica of the engine used in France during dur-ing World War I. President and Mrs. Ray Dillman of Roosevelt, attended the LDS ward Sunday School and Sacrament Sacra-ment meeting, Sunday. Mr. Dill-man Dill-man took charge of the class of Austin Brokaw, who was ill and unable to be present. Accompanying Accom-panying the Dillmans were one of his missionaries and wife, who were guests at the Dillman home. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL SCHOOL IN MYTON Rev. Don McDougall, of the Mobile Mo-bile Missionaries of the National Board of Presbyterian churches, conducted services Sunday at the Myton Presbyterian church. Rev. McDougall is also conducting Vacation Va-cation Bible School during this week, and a large group of the youngsters are participating and enjoying the school. The LDS Mutual Improvement Association will entertain Tuesday evening at a traffic dance and cake sale, to held raise funds foi the organization. Ed Ponton and sons, of Salt Lake City, were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. C, Cooper to participate in a fishing trip. . MYTON SCOUTS WIN 2nd PLACE The Scout Court of Honor was held at Ioka Sunday afternoon. The Myton troup was awarded second place for their endeavors during the past month. Russell Gingell, assistant scoutmaster,, presented a Star Scout pin to Jerry Jer-ry Murray and other presentations were made to Explorer Scouts. Ezra J. Nixon, of the stake presidency, attended a special meeting at the LDS ward chapel, Sunday evening. Blaine Brokaw has been quite ill during the past week and was taken to the Veterans' Hospital in Salt Lake City, Thursday. No definite report has been received concerning his condition. FORMER MYTON RESIDENTS VISIT Howard Davenport, a former Mytonite, who left here about 5 years ago to make his home in Los Angeles, was greeting old friends last Tuesday as he returned re-turned to Myton to attend to his property interests here. He was accompanied by his sister, Miss Kate Davenport, who had frequently fre-quently visited her brother and family while they resided here. They left that evening for Logan to be present at the commencement commence-ment exercises at the U. S. A. C. where Howard Davenport, Jr. was a member of the graduation class. Juanita Brian, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brian, underwent an appendectomy at the Price Hospital on June 1. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Tanner went to Price, Sunday, to visit their granddaughter grand-daughter and returned that evening, eve-ning, accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Martin, a niece of Mrs. Tanner, who visited at the Tanner and L. E. Potter homes. They returned to Price, Tuesday, to bring Mrs. Brian and her daughter home as soon as the child was released by her doctor. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Liddell and children went to Hayden, Colo, last week to visit Mrs. Liddell's father and brothers, Frank Monks and sons, Calvin and , Ted and families. They returned home on Sunday, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Monks and children. Calvin attended to their interests .here and returned to Colorado, while his wife and children remained re-mained to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs, Ted Thomas. Donn Liddell Lid-dell attended to the farm chores at Frank's home during their absence. ab-sence. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Thomas were called to Price, Friday, by the serious ser-ious illness of Mr. Thomas' father. They returned home Sunday, reporting re-porting the elder Thomas was still in critical condition. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Haskell and children, of Los Angeles, are visiting Mrs. Haskell's father, J. W. Jenson and her bother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Jen-son. Jen-son. Claude Graves, who resided in Myton a number of years ago, was greeting old friends Thursday. He visited at the L. E, Potter, Wesley Jenson and J. W. Jenson homes while here. . Mrs. David Tanner and son, Max, went to Provo, Sunday, to visit relatives and greet Mrs. Tanner's Tan-ner's sister, Mrs. Theora McQuil-lian, McQuil-lian, who came from San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif, for a short visit with members of her family. Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgleish were called from the American Legion convention in Vernal, Saturday, Sat-urday, by the sudden illness of Mrs. Dalgleish's father, Ed Hart, in Duchesne. Mrs. Dalgleish remained re-mained in Duchesne till Sunday evening, when Mr. Hart was sufficiently suf-ficiently improved for her to return re-turn home. Mr, and Mrs. A. C. Tolboe came from Provo to attend the Department convention of the Legion and Auxiliary in Vernal. They were guests of the H. C. Coopers while here. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Murray and sons, Jerry and Darrell, went to Morgan, Utah last week to visit vis-it their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Murray and children. Mr. Murray and Jerry returned home while his wife and Darrell remained for a longer visit, returning re-turning home Friday. Mrs. Neil Murray underwent a minor operation oper-ation while they were there and is reported getting along nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Porritt enjoyed en-joyed a weekend visit from their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs, James Fullmer and family, who came from Moab, Utah. Miss Shirley Harmon, a student at the Utah State Agricultural College Col-lege at Logan, returned home Friday Fri-day to spend her summer vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Harmon. Jim Martin is home for his summer sum-mer vacation. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin, he has been attending Dixie College at St. George. Merrill Chandler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Chandler, is home on summer vacation, after attending Dixie College at St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Giles and family were weekend visitors at the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Monks, near Hayden, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. W, R. Harris are enjoying a visit from their niece and nephew, Hope and Donald Montgomery, of Layton, Utah. Mrs. A. J. Orr, of Hawthorne, Calif., is a visitor at the home of Miss Alice Todd, arriving Monday, Mon-day, after a week's visit with her son, William Orr, and family in Salt Lake City, Her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Arthur Orr, Jr., and children accompanied her from California to visit at the home of her parents in Neola, while Mrs. Orr visited friends and also at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Denzel Hemphill. Mrs. Orr is a former resident of Myton and Duchesne and her host of friends will enjoy en-joy her visit. Circus Bear Causes Excitement Considerable excitement prevailed pre-vailed Monday near the Wilmer Murray home, when a black bear, a part of the circus troop, was taken for a drink at the ditch in front of the Murray home. The bear decided he preferred to climb a tree and jerked the chain from his keeper's hand and scampered scam-pered high into the branches of a large cottonwood tree. After much coaxing, the use of a ladder to disentagle the chain from the . branches, and a lot of growling from Mr. Bear, he was finally brought to earth and returned to his tent. The children of the neighborhood greatly enjoyed the escapade. |
