Show Eiain Threats Bid FJot Discourage Shuts' Gamporee Over 66 Scouts and Scouters participated in the Roosevelt District Dis-trict 1955 Camporee, June 1-2, in spite of rain threats and coldness, reports George Hacking, District Commissioner. The Roosevelt American Legion, Troop 700, with Gordon Harmston as Scoutmaster, won the camp inspection in-spection ribbon. Wednesday evening under the lights at the Roosevelt Rodeo grounds, site or the camporee, an units present participated ' in scoutcraft demonstrations. Keith Campbell's Troop 250, of Roosevelt Second ward, walked off with top honors in the demonstrations. demon-strations. Post 2750, Roosevelt Third ward, with their signaling tower, received second honors in demonstrations. Myton Troop 253 signaled with Morse code using lights from a nearby hill. Troop 262 of Mont-wel Mont-wel had a string-burning contest against Ballard Post 2252. Ballard won. First aid was demonstrated by Troop 700, while Troop 750 constructed a signaling tower opposite op-posite that of Post 2750. Climaxing the evening was a campfire program under the direction di-rection of Neola Troop 270. Members of the Roosevelt District Dis-trict committee active at the Camporee included: James E. Bacon, Ba-con, District Chairman; George Hacking, District Commissioner; Lowell Coleman, Vice-Chairman, and Spencer Squire, Neighborhood Commissioner. |
