Show Seven-Year-OId Roosevelt Boy Severely Burned Young Allen Maxwell, 7-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clive Maxwell was severely burned Tuesday at his home in a freak accident. According to his mother, Allen had gone into the back yard at about 8:30 a.m. to get his bicycle, preparatory to leaving for school. As he walked past an incinerator where some trash was burning, a spark lit on his back, igniting the light wool and cotton shirt he was wearing. The youngster, unaware of the spark, thought he had been stung by a bee, until the shirt burst into flames, at which time be became be-came panic stricken and started running, fanning the fire. Luckily Mr. Maxwell was in the yard at the time and was able to put out the blaze by rolling Allen in the dirt before he was critically burned. The boy is hospitalized with severe burns over his back and upper trunk. His condition is not considered serious. His father suffered suf-fered cuts and burns on both hands. |
