Show For the Mom Use Pre-Primed Board ' j"OW that a factory-primed hardboard is available at lumber lum-ber yards, making a home chalkboard chalk-board becomes easier than ever. Major paint companies sell chalkboard chalk-board material in both black and green. The factory-primed board, known as Masonite Primecote Tempered Presdwood, has an ideal surface for the slate-like material. One coat covers. When it's dry, rub it down with a clean cloth and the chalkboard is ready for use. Note, in the illustration, how the do-it-yourself fan has rounded the top corners of the board and drilled holes for hanging it. He also has beveled the edges all around and cut a piece of molding mold-ing which he'll fasten to the bottom bot-tom as a chalk trough. Excellent locations for home chalkboards are the kitchen, recreation rec-reation room, children's room and basement or utility room. Boards made as suggested are professional profes-sional in quality, as good as those found in schoolrooms. If the primecoated Tempered Presdwood isn't available, obtain some unprimed board and give it a coat of clear sealer before applying the chalkboard surfacing surfac-ing material. Primecote Presdwood, of course, may be used for many other things around the home. |
